CCC Cheer Team wins at summer camps

The Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Cheer program started the season off strong while attending summer camps this August. The 2009-10 Raven cheer squad consists of about 60 team members divided into two different squads, a large coed and all-girl squad.

The coed squad attended the Universal Cheer Association (UCA) camp in San Marcos Tex. Coffeyville was the only community college attending this camp. CCC competed in the division I college category against large coed teams against large schools including Sam Houston State. The team was successful as they brought back all Blue Superior Ribbons, a fourth place in the sideline competition, third in the cheer competition and the most prestigious trophy (voted on by all schools in the division) the Leadership Trophy.

The all-girl squad travelled to National Cheer Association (NCA) camp in Lawrence, Kan.  This group also competed against division I colleges and, again, the Red Ravens brought home all Blue Superior Ribbons, second place in the Rally Routine and a Bronze paid bid to the National Competition in Daytona, Fla.
