Jay Herkelman has been the head men’s basketball coach at Coffeyville Community College since 1995. He has won more games than any other men’s basketball coach in school history with a 372-108 (.775 winning percentage) overall record. Over the past eight seasons, Herkelman has amassed a 124-20 regular season record against KJCCC eastern division opponents.
In 2008-2009, he led the Ravens to their eighth conference championship in nine years, compiling a 15-3 mark in the Jayhawk East. Under his guidance, the Ravens won seven straight conference championships from 2001 to 2007.
In 2006-2007, he led the Ravens to their fifth Region 6 Championship in six years. The team went on to win three games in the national tournament and placed third. Overall, the Ravens finished 33-5 last season, their second straight season with a 33-5 record.
The 2005-2006 Red Ravens also won three games at the national tournament and placed seventh.
He led his 2001-02 squad to a 36-2 record and a second place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament, losing by one point in the championship game.
In 2002-2003, the Ravens were 29-9, won the Region VI championship for the second straight year and placed eighth in the NJCAA National Tournament. In 2003-2004, the Ravens finished 31-7 and placed fifth at the national tournament.
Herkelman has been named the Region VI Coach of the Year in 2001-02, 2002-03, and 2003-04. Herkelman has also been named the KJCCC Eastern Division Coach of the Year in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. He was also named Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Coach-of-the-Year in 2006.
A native of Clinton, Iowa, Herkelman was a two-year starter at Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa, from 1981-83. After being recruited by the University of Dubuque (Iowa), he played two successful seasons for the Spartans.
After his playing career concluded, Herkelman coached at the University of Duquque for two seasons and then went to Fort Hays State where he earned his master's degree.
Following Fort Hays State, Herkelman made coaching stops at Eastern New Mexico University and Northeastern Oklahoma A & M before taking on the head coaching duties at Coffeyville Community College in 1995.
He has had 52 players in his career at Coffeyville Community College move on to four-year colleges and universities. One notable athlete under Herkelman’s leadership was Reggie Evans, a starter for the Ravens in 1999 and 2000. Evans is currently in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76’ers and he finished fourth in the league in offensive rebounding in 2002-2003.
Herkelman and his wife Leslie have three daughters: Abbie Ann, 14, Emma Francelia, 11, and Halle Jae, 7.

Kyle Campbell is in his fourth season season as an assistant on the Ravens coaching staff. In his first three seasons with Coffeyville, the Ravens have a combined record of 81-22. Campbell also serves as the men's coordinator for the Jayhawk Shoot-out.
He is originally from Curtis, Nebraska where he attended Medicine Valley High School where he was a three sport letter winner all four years of high school in basketball, football and track.
He was also an all-state selection in basketball his junior and senior years in high school. He is a 2006 graduate of Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in educational studies. He played four years of college basketball at Hastings, earning four letters in his career.
He comes from a coaching background as both parents were coaches. Campbell is single.

Spencer, Iowa, native Andy Munday joined the Red Raven staff in 2008-2009 and will be in his second season at Coffeyville. Munday played two seasons at Iowa Lakes Community College. He later graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, with bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in social studies and coaching.
In 2002, Munday had a free agent try-out for the Sioux Falls SkyForce of the Continental Basketball Association.
Following college, Munday was a substitute teacher in the Spencer, Iowa, school district for three years and also served as an assistant varsity girl's basketball coach, helping guide the team to two state tournament appearances in three years. He was also an assistant varsity girl's tennis coach and middle school football coach at Spencer. He also has experience as a head varsity girl's basketball coach and taught special education for two years in northeastern Iowa.

Pat Monaghan will be in his second season at Coffeyville. He joined the Red Raven staff prior to the 2008-2009 season. Monagahan spent the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Wayne State University while pursuing his master’s degree.
Monaghan is a 2006 graduate of Lewis University in Illinois where he played shooting guard for the Flyers from 2004-2006. He served as team captain in the 2005-2006 season. Before playing at Lewis, Monaghan attended Harper Junior College in Illinois for two season, earning First Team All-Region honors both years and selected Third Team NJCAA All-American in 2003-2004.
Monaghan is a native of Chicago, Illinois. Monaghan also serves as Director of the men’s apartment complex at CCC.
