Jon RizzoRizzo places 7th in men’s javelin at USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships

 

Red Raven sophomore-to-be Jon Rizzo placed seventh in the javelin at the 2010 USA Junior Outdoor Track Championships held in Des Moines, Iowa this past weekend (June 23-27).  Rizzo threw the javelin 59.97 meters, or 196 feet and nine inches.  

 

Rizzo capped off a successful freshman season by competing in the Junior Outdoor Championships.  Last month, Rizzo made Second Team NJCAA All-American by placing second in the javelin at the NJCAA National Track Meet held in Hutchinson.  

 

Rizzo’s hometown is Goddard, Kansas.

The Coffeyville Community College track and field team capped off a record breaking season by placing in the top ten at the 2010 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in Hutchinson, Kansas.  The Raven men finished in seventh place with 42 team points and the Raven women came in ninth with 32 team points. The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens will be well presented at the 2010 NJCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Meet to be held May 20-22 in Hutchinson.  The Ravens will send 31 athletes to the meet. [more]

Men’s and women’s track teams place second at Region 6 meet

 

The Coffeyville men’s and women’s track teams both placed second in the Jayhawk East at the Region 6 track meet held May 6-8 in Overland Park, Kan.  In the region, the women place third and the men fourth. [more]

1960 Track TeamDean Pryor reunion celebrates 50th anniversary of national title

 

The annual gathering of former Red Raven track stars took on a special meaning on May 1, 2010 as the 1960 National Champion Track team return to Coffeyville for their 50th reunion. They returned to share stories, honor a special coach and see how much their support has impacted the current Coffeyville Community College (CCC) track team.  [more]

Ravens split squad for Sooner Inv. and Southwestern Relays

 

The Raven track team competed at two different events the weekend of April 23-24.  Part of the team competed at the Sooner Inv. in Norman, Oklahama while the majority of the team competed at the Southwestern Relays. [more]

Earle named to KJCCC All-Academic Team

 

Jordan Earle was named to the Fall 2009 KJCCC All-Academic Team.  Earle competed on the women’s cross country team this past fall.

Track team competes at Hutch Relays

 

The CCC Track & Field program competed at the Hutchinson Night Relays on Saturday April 3.  Another weekend of favorable weather, despite the gusting winds, allowed for a day of excitement at the track and on the field.  The throws contingent featured several personal best performances, including a new national qualifier and a new school record holder! Ravens compete at Cowley Invite

 

The Coffeyville Community College Track and Field program competed at

the Cowley Tiger Invitational in Arkansas City, Kansas on Monday, March 29, 2010. This was our first full-squad effort of the outdoor season.  The favorable weather conditions combined with the large number of personal best and national qualifying performances made for a very productive, enjoyable weekend!  We now have a total of 23 Outdoor National Qualifiers. The outdoor track & field season is underway and so far marked by less than ideal weather conditions.  Several athletes competed at the Southwestern Invitational hosted by Cowley College on Thurs March 11. [more]

Ravens place in top ten at indoor national meet

 

Both the men’s and women’s Red Raven track teams finished in the top ten at the 2010 NJCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships held March 5-6 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill.

 

The Coffeyville men finished in a tie for sixth place with Hinds, Miss.  The Raven men garnered 30 team points.  The Coffeyville women finished in a ninth place tie with Butler.  The women tallied a total of 35 team points. Several athletes also made All-American.  [more]

Ravens looking for top ten finish at NJCAA National Indoor Meet

 

National Indoor QualifiersTwenty-nine athletes will be representing Coffeyville Community College March 5-6 at the 2010 NJCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championship to be held at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill.  Great expectations come with such a large contingent.

 

“We’re shooting for a top ten finish for both the men’s and women’s teams,” said CCC Head Track Coach Craig Perry.  “We also have a good chance of winning a couple of individual national titles.”  Coming into the national meet, the Ravens have several athletes ranked in the top ten nationally. Ravens finish second in Jayhawk East, fourth in region at Region 6 Indoor Championship; Perry named Co-Coach of the Year

 

The Coffeyville Track & Field program traveled to Johnson County Community College and Kansas State University Feb. 19-21 for the Region 6 Indoor Championships.  CCC came away with 2nd place in the East Conference standings on both men's and women's sides and 4th in the Region on both sides.  Craig Perry was also named Region 6 Co-Coach of the Year. Ravens compete at Highland “Last Chance Meet”

 

The Coffeyville Track & Field travelled a few athletes to a last chance qualifier meet on Thursday February 25, at Highland Community College.  The trip was very worthwhile as we returned with a new National Qualifier and several athletes had personal best performances to conclude their indoor seasons. CCC’s busy weekend includes meets at Highland and Pittsburg State

 

Coffeyville Community College Track & Field competed at Highland Community College in the Scottie Classic on Thursday, February 11th and at the Pittsburg State University Invitational on Friday, February 12th.  Both facilities feature small 160m tracks, so we opted to rest many of our runners from  competition.  We did, however, allow several field event athletes to compete and many posted new personal bests performances. Coffeyville Community College Track & Field competed at Iowa State University in the ISU Cyclone Open Invite on Friday, February 5, and Saturday, February 6.  CCC had an impressive showing in a competitive field of Division I, Division II, NAIA, and junior college athletes. [more]

Johnson and Pope qualify for Indoor Nationals at Fazoli’s Baymont Open

 

Coffeyville Community College Track & Field competed at the Missouri Southern State Fazoli’s Baymont Open on Friday January 29 and January 30.  Despite the inclement weather, our athletes arrived focused and ready to compete.  It was well worth the trip as the number of NJCAA Indoor National Qualifiers grew and our school record for the Men’s Weight Throw was broken for the second consecutive week!  [more]

Ravens set two school records; three runners and women’s 4x400 relay team qualify for indoor nationals

 

Coffeyville Community College Track & Field competed at Missouri Southern State University in the Radio Shack Invite on Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23.  We continued to build momentum as many of our athletes showed improvement over their performances at last week's season opener.  New school records were set and more athletes qualified for the NJCAA Indoor National Meet! Eight Ravens qualify for indoor nationals at Highland meet; Mullins breaks school record in 60m hurdles

 

Coffeyville Track & Field opened the indoor season with 52 athletes representing our program on Saturday, Jan. 16, at Highland Community College.  Our men’s and women’s teams dominated the meet with eight national qualifying performances, several event champions, and a new school record holder!  [more]

Raven runners compete in national meet

 

The Red Raven cross country teams competed in the NJCAA National Cross Country Meet in Peoria, Ill. on Nov. 14.  The Raven men finished in 26th place while the women placed 28th. [more]

Raven women’s and men’s cross country teams both finish third in conference at region meet

 

The Region 6 Cross Country Meet was held on Saturday, October 24, in Overland Park, Kansas.  The Raven women placed third in the Jayhawk East standings and fifth in the Region 6 standings.  The Raven men placed third in the Jayhawk East standings and eighth overall in Region 6.  [more]

Raven cross country team competes at Cowley meet

 

The Red Raven cross country team competed at a meet hosted by Cowley College at Camp Quaker Haven in Arkansas City, Kansas, this past Friday, August 27.  Ethan Ward was the top finisher for the Raven men while Kylie Bourquin turned in the top time for the Raven women. [more]

Track team honored with several academic awards

 

A plethora of Red Raven track student-athletes were honored with academic awards by the NJCAA and the Jayhawk Conference.  Jasmere Love was honored as a Distinguished Academic All-American by the NJCAA.  Love graduated from CCC with a 3.95 g.p.a.  Jordan Earle, Nayshona Jones, and Emily Seda were all honored as Academic All-Americans by the NJCAA.  Earle compiled a 3.61 g.p.a., Jones a 3.60 g.p.a. and Seda a 3.65 g.p.a.  All three student-athletes graduated this past spring.  Several student-athletes were also selected to the Jayhawk Conference All-Academic Team.  Those selected were Brittany Blunt, Jordan Earle, Nayshona Jones, Jasmere Love, and Emily Seda.
