Emily Washburn completed her seventh season as Head Coach of the Lady Ravens this past year. She has an overall record of 170-57 (.749 winning percentage) in her first seven seasons. She has twice been named KJCCC Eastern Conference Coach of the Year, 2004 and 2007.

 

In 2007-2008, Washburn led the Ravens to their fourth KJCCC East conference title in five years.

 

In 2006-2007, she led the Red Ravens to a conference championship with a 17-1 mark in conference play. The Ravens nearly won the region championship, losing in overtime to eventual champion Seward County. The Ravens finished the year with a 30-4 record, tying the school record for the most wins in a season.

 

In 2005-2006, she led the Lady Ravens to a 23-9 record, including a 16-2 conference mark and co-conference champions of the KJCCC Eastern Division. In her first season, 2003-2004, she led the Lady Ravens to a 22-10 season which included a 17-1 conference record and a KJCCC Eastern Division Conference Championship, the first in twelve years for the Lady Ravens. The Ravens have won over 20 games in each of Washburn's first six seasons as Head Coach.

 

An all-state basketball player during her high school years at Caney Valley High School, she was a two-year starter for the Lady Ravens. Her sophomore season, she helped CCC to a 30-7 record, the most wins ever in a single season for the CCC women. That team won the Region VI championship and participated in the national tournament, and she was named to the Region VI Tournament all-star team.

 

Washburn was a junior college Academic All-American. After completing her career at Coffeyville, she played at Eastern Illinois University. While obtaining her master’s degree at Eastern, she served as an assistant coach at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois, helping the Lakers reach the NJCAA Division II national tournament in 2000-01.

 

Emily is married to Matt Washburn. The couple’s son, Rex Matthew, was born March 4, 2003, and their eldest daughter, Anna Elaine, was born on April 11, 2006.  The couple welcomed their third child, a daughter named Elyn Gail, on January 30, 2010.

Matt Washburn is in his sixth season as the assistant coach at Coffeyville Community College. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, he played one year of college basketball at Eureka College. Matt coached five years at Tuscola Community High School (Illinois) and was also an assistant football coach for one season at Mattoon High School (Illinois). Matt has also attended the University of Illinois, and Parkland College before graduating from Eastern Illinois University.

 

Marquita ThompsonMarquita Thompson,

Assistant Coach

 

Marquita joined the Red Raven coaching staff in January 2009.  A native of Garland, Texas, Marquita played for the Ravens from 2003-2005.  Marquita was a first team all-conference selection her freshman season and was named honorable mention all-conference her sophomore season.  She was also an honorable mention selection on the All-Region VI teams both years at Coffeyville.  After graduating from Coffeyville, she transferred to Long Island University where she played for two seasons.  As a senior in 2006-2007, she was the fourth leading scorer on a Long Island team that set a school record with 22 wins.  Marquita has an associate's degree from Coffeyville and a bachelor's degree from Long Island University.

 

Jasmine Gibson

Assistant Coach

 

Jasmine joined the Red Raven coaching staff in January 2010.  Jasmine played four seasons at Southern Illinois University from 2005-2009.  As team captain her senior season, she led the Salukis in scoring with 12.9 points per game and shot a team-leading 49% from the field.  She was also second on the team in rebounding and steals.  As a junior, she was second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game.  During her four years at SIU, Jasmine saw action in 107 games, starting 62.  She graduated in 2009 from SIU with a B.S. degree.
